What’s your favorite candy bar? Or, what were you most excited to see land in your pillowcase when you were trick or treating on Halloween as a kid?

My favorites really have not changed over the years… I’ve always loved Reese’s peanut butter cups first and foremost, with Snickers comingin a close second. Shocking, right? However, the one candy bar that I’ve always thought was totally underrated was the Crunch bar. A bar of pure milk chocolate loaded with tons of little crispy crunches – I love the contrasting smoothness of the chocolate with the crunch of the crispy rice pieces.

Crunch bars popped into my head last week and it dawned on me that I could probably make them very, very easily at home. I whipped up a batch in no time!

These bars could seriously not be any simpler to make and you only need TWO ingredients! All you need to do is melt a pound of milk chocolate and stir in a couple cups of crisped rice cereal, refrigerate it until it sets and, voila! You have Crunch bars!

I made these in an 8×8 square pan; if you’d like the bars thinner, you could definitely use a larger pan. These were difficult to cut into perfect rectangles, which is definitely not an issue for me, but if you want perfect candy bars, you could always use a candy bar mold.

So, there you have it! Two ingredients, 10 minutes and your very own homemade Crunch bars!

Can’t wait to make these. I’m love nestle crunch <3 Just wondering if they would stay crispy after 2 days? I want to make a large batch for my kids birthday and I was hoping I could make them a few days earlier.

    • Michelle Reply

Oh yes, they stayed crunchy for probably a week or two!

I’ve melted chocolate & done all sorts of yummy things with it like this! This reminds me of a crust I’ve made for homemade ice cream cakes. Melt chocolate chips with a bit of coconut oil and a little bit more of peanut butter, mix in the rice krispies and some chopped pecans. When eating the “cake” we all thought the crust could be it’s own candy bar! I still have yet to make it as such. :)

I used to wolf down crunch bars when I was a kid. My sweet tooth still requires them every now and then, but this recipe means I can make my own at home. Yum. Thanks for this.

When I used to buy the Miniatures, the crunch bars were always my favorite. Thanks – I’ll be making these soon!

Would a dark chocolate work well in this? Milk chocolate has gotten too sweet for me.

    • Michelle Reply

Hi Ellen, Sure, I don’t see why not!

Oh my goodness…so simple! How I have never thought of doing this…and yea a bowl of crunch bars laying around Halloween time is terrible for. They usually never get to the trick or treaters!

My favourite chocolate bars are Skor and Mars bars. I also love Payday bars when I go to the states.

Yes! Homemade crunch bars are the best! I also successfully froze them for about 6 months. So nice to have a treat whenever I wanted.

I know I’m in the minority here, but I’ve always preferred Nestlé’s chocolate over Hershey’s. The Nestlé Crunch Bar… so underrated! I can’t wait to make this!

    • Michelle Reply

I am in the minority with you!! Totally prefer the Nestle stuff!

      • Peggy S.

        :-) Yay!

  17. Linda Reply

These look so good! And easy! Wonder if you could add peanut butter, like the top of the crack brownie recipe? That might be even more awesomer!!!

    • Michelle Reply

      Oh my, that sounds amazing!

  18. Rashmi Reply

This looks amazing – just a question, is crisped rice cereal Rice Krispys?

    • Michelle Reply

Hi Rashmi, Yes, Rice Krispies, there are just tons of different off brands, so you don’t HAVE to use a particular brand :)

WANT!! I just made a recipe yesterday that I topped with storebought Crunch bars but had I know it was THIS easy to make my own, I would have. Love these!
