This workshop will introduce parents and families to the new IEP form which will be implemented for all students eligible for Individualized Education Programs by the Fall of 2024. This workshop will inform parents of what to expect at their upcoming IEP meetings. We will review the new form to see what has been added and what has been reorganized. In addition to learning about the changes, we will discuss the reasons behind these changes which represent the first major change to the form in 20 years.
Meet Our Presenter:
Laurie Casna, J.D. has over twenty years of experience in education. She has served for 15 years as a special education teacher and administrator. She currently serves as an educational consultantfor over 75 school districts throughout the country. In her work as a national consultant, Ms. Casna supports schools and districts in establishing and implementing evidence-based inclusive practices in compliance with state and federal education laws. Ms. Casna has experience as a Director of Special Education in private special education settings, traditional public schools, and publicly funded charter schools. She has led multiple districts through the process of completing State Comprehensive and Tiered Focused Monitoring Reviews and audits focused on Special Education Programming, Human Resources, Equity, and Multilingual Learner Supports. She is experienced in working with school leadership teams and community-based organizations to conduct comprehensive evaluations of services, programming, systems, and structures to determine their impact on all populations within a community. She couples her assessments of practices with data-supported and evidence-driven recommendations. She has recently focused much of her work on supporting schools, families, and stakeholders in implementing the new Individualized Education Program being implemented in Massachusetts.

The EdFund Golf Tournament is quickly approaching! Held on May 20th at Myopia Hunt Club, the day is sure to be full of lively competition. All funds raised through the day go directly to supporting Hamilton Wenham Schools. Through grants to teachers, administrators, and students, opportunities are provided for dynamic learning and teaching while enhancing existing infrastructure and promoting excellence across the schools.
