Performance and job stress are two connected factors that influence one another. A low to moderate degree of job stress will positively affect performance, which will be at its best. Mediation Role of Work Life Balance on The Effect of Perceived Organization Support on Lecturer Job Satisfaction at Private University in Jakarta during Covid-19 Pandemic

The changes occurred during Covid-19 pandemic forced lecturers to be able to do their jobs well and to create a creative and innovative learning atmosphere. In order to make them continuing their duties properly during Covid-19 pandemic, they have to be able to feel job satisfaction. This study aims to examine the effect of perceived organizational support on job satisfaction in lecturers during Covid-19 pandemic through work life balance. The respondent consisted of 184 respondents with the criteria being lecturers who teach at private university in Jakarta and at least have a Master Degree. Data analysis used SPSS version 23 and SmartPLS version 3.2.9. The results of this study state that work life balance mediates the effect of perceived organization support on job satisfaction with a coefficient value of 0.055 and a t-statistic value of 3.136 > 1.96 with a p-value of 0.002 (ρ<0.05) and significant. This proves that work life balance plays role as a variable that mediates between perceptions of organizational support and job satisfaction in private university lecturers during Covid-19. These results have implications that need to develop a policy to create a good work life balance for lecturers by minimizing the role conflicts that occur and further improve support for lecturers so expectations of job for lectures are created.

Positive impact of job stress on the performance of employees of Uva Wellassa University

Job stress has become a major buzzword and legitimate concern of the times. It is usually thought of in negative terms but it has positive side also. Stress is the wear and tear of our bodies as we adjust to our continually changing environment. Most studies and research in this field has centered on work generated distress. Therefore, this study was scheduled to identify a set of factors related with the job content and job context which causes positive stress in a working setting. This study is being carried out at the Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka among the non-academic staff members of the university. A pre-tested questionnaire contains the questions related to the job content and job context were personally given to the randomly selected persons and obtained the views of the employees on the aspects related to the study. The variables and factors were measured on a 7 point Likert Scale and descriptive analysis were also carried out to identify the mean, standard deviations. In addition, the significant variable that explains employees' perceived state of positive stressfulness in order of their importance based on the mean values. It was identified that the positive stress in principally caused by factors related with job content which has the higher mean rating of 4.66 with the standard deviation of 1.61. The overall evaluation of the major variables reveals that the job content plays an important role in associating with positive stress. A keen focus of attention may be induced by introducing better new systems and management changes. Positive stressfulness leads to creativity and innovation at all levels in organizations.

The educational institution is sometimes deemed not a very attractive workplace, which could affect its employees’ happiness. This research aims to qualitatively identify the state of happiness and its determinants factors including its association with digital technology among lecturers. Digital technology is considered important in the educational area because it helps lecturers to effectively share information, materials, and class management. The study was conducted to find out the interrelationship of the factors such as innovative work behavior, work engagement, and work environment and their effect on the work performance to find the best fit model of work performance suited for Higher Educational Institution. This study included the Higher Education Institutions in the member’s school of COPRISA in North Cotabato. The model indicated that the work engagement and work environment have significant direct effect on the work performance while innovative work behavior does not have direct effect on work performance, and it has a significant indirect effect on work performance which is mediated by work environment. On other hand, the work engagement also showed a significant indirect effect on work performance as mediated by work environment. This implied that work environment was a factor that explained the relationship of innovative work behavior and work engagement on the work performance of faculty members.
