All about the MSN News app (2024)

If you're having issues with the News app, you've come to the right place.
There are a few simple things that you can do to resolve most issues with MSN apps.

  • First, be sure that you have a connection to the internet. If you are on a mobile device and away from Wi-Fi hotspots, be sure that you have allowed the device to use your cellular service.

  • Next, be sure that you are signed in with your Microsoft account and that you are using the same Microsoft account on devices that you want to share information.

  • Launch the app and use it for a while before checking to see if the live tile updates. If you are using the app for the first time, it may download updates and some features may respond slower than expected.

If you see a specific error message, send feedback from within the app and include the error message in your feedback.

For the Windows app:

  1. Go to the news source.

  2. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen or right-click with your mouse.

  3. In the bar at the bottom of the app, tap or select Pin to Start.

  4. Select the Pin to the Start button in the pop-up.

For the Windows Phone app:

To pin items in the in the Sources section, Tap and Hold the source. You may then select remove or pin to start.

For the Windows app:

  1. From the home screen of the News app, swipe up from the bottom of the screen or right-click with your mouse.

  2. Tap or select Customize.

  3. Select the + button next to the kind of content you'd like to add: Topics, Sources, Editor's Picks or News from more countries.

  4. Drag and drop to reorder sections, or remove a section by tapping or selecting the section's red X button.

Note that this feature might not be available in every locale.

For the Windows Phone app:

You can customize any screen in the News app by using the icons at the bottom of the screen. You can rearrange, add, or edit what appears on each screen depending upon the icon displayed.

  1. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen or right-click with your mouse.

  2. In the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, tap or select Customize.

  3. Tap or select Topics.

  4. Enter the topic you would like to track. Tap or select Add.

  5. A new section will be added to the News app. By default, it will be added to the last position, but you can drag and drop it anywhere.

For the Windows app:

  1. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen or right-click with your mouse

  2. In the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, tap or select Customize.

  3. Tap or select Topics.

  4. Remove a topic by tapping or selecting the section's red X button.

For the Windows Phone app:

To remove items in the in the Sources section, Tap and Hold the source. You may then select remove or pin to start.

For the Windows app:

  1. Scroll through the News app to find the Sources section, or swipe down from the top of the screen (you can also right-click with your mouse) and tap or select Sources.

  2. Browse the sources by category using the tabs on the left. You can also use the menu on the top right to select content from around the world or use the search box to enter the name of a source.

  3. Tap or select the source's name to see the content.

For the Windows Phone app:

in the sources section. Then select theglobeicon. Select the region and explore the sources for that region.

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen or right-click with your mouse.

  2. Tap or select Sources.

  3. In the tabs on the left side of the screen, select the International News tab to view news for different regions around the world.

  4. Or, use the drop menu on the top right to choose specific sources.

For the Windows app:

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen or right-click with your mouse.

  2. In the top bar of the app, tap or select any of the news organizations listed in the Featured section.

For the Windows Phone app:

  1. Use the headlines area to choose stories from some of the most trusted sources in news.

  2. You can edit the categories in this section by tapping the edit icon and choosing your favorite news segments.

For the Windows app:

  1. Swipe through the home screen of the app to the Sources section.

  2. Tap or select any of the news organizations listed.

For the Windows Phone app:

In the Sourcessection select the edit icon. The add or remove sources by using the checkboxes on the left edge. You can add international news sources by tapping the globe icon, selecting the region, and adding sources from as many regions as you like.

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen or right-click with your mouse

  2. Select Sources.

  3. Swipe through the tiles in categories such as Business and Technology.

  4. Tap or select a source to view its content.

  3. Browse by tapping or selectingthe tabs to the left, or search for a specific source.

  4. Add sources to your home screen by tapping or selecting the + button next to the source name.

  3. In the search box, enter the RSS URL you would like to subscribe to.

  4. The name of the feed you entered will display.

  5. Tap or select the + button next to the name of the source.

  2. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen or right-click with your mouse.

  3. In the bar at the bottom of the app, tap or select the Text Size button and select a size.

  1. Make the top and bottom navigation appear: Right-click with your mouse or enter Windows logo key+Z on your keyboard.

  2. Close the app: Using your mouse, select and hold the app at the top middle of the screen. Drag it to the bottom of your screen and release to close it. Or, enter Alt+F4 on your keyboard.

  3. Scroll through content: To see more news, you can use the scroll bar at the bottom of your screen. If you have one, your mouse scroll wheel will also work. If you're using a keyboard, scroll with the back and forward arrow keys.

  1. Go to a section of the app, like the home screen of the app.

  2. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen or right-click with your mouse.

  3. Tap or select Refresh.

Go to the topics section and hit there-order button,now that you're in re-order mode, you can select the topic that you wanted to delete by hitting thedelete button in theapp bar.

You may need to launch the app to trigger the live tile updates.When you've just updated or installed your app, it can take a few seconds for thelive tile to work.
